Our 7-Point Prevention PlanWe know that breast cancer happens when numerous risk factors interact within a woman’s body, causing cell mutation and then cancerous cell growth. By understanding as much as we possibly can about the factors that initiate or block mutations and the factors that accelerate, slow or reverse cancerous cell growth, we gain the ability to take personal and public action that can work to stop breast cancer before it starts. Our Prevention Plan focuses on five significant personal risk factors that too few people (including health practitioners) know about. This list is in no way complete, but it gives each of us a strong personal beginning. Our Prevention Plan also includes two significant public steps that each of us can take to help stop breast cancer before it starts.
1. Avoid using contraceptive drugs 2. Avoid all milk and dairy products containing rBGH (Monsanto’s Posilac) 3. Consider not having any screening mammograms
4. Avoid HRT (hormone replacement therapy) 5. Keep excess body fat to a minimum
6. Urge breast cancer awareness groups, such as Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, the National Breast Cancer Foundation, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, and the American Cancer Society (ACS), to become pro-prevention groups by spending at least 50% of their budgets researching non-toxic ways to help stop cancer before it starts. 7. Support existing national and state nonprofit pro-prevention groups that have already crafted breast cancer prevention legislation as they lobby Congress and conduct research linking breast cancer with consumer products and environmental concerns.
